Forbidden Food.....

So in Italy, you can only eat porcupine if its roadkill. Otherwise, it is illegal. So naturally, being the crazy Americans that we are, we were set upon eating porcupine before we leave this country.....Our cooking teacher told us that we would be able to eat it, and that he would "get" us some. Let's just say, I didnt ask where it came from.

So we went to his house (he lives on a farm in the country) and hung out for several hours as he cooked the "forbidden food" and we played with his dog. A few of his friends joined us, Lauro and Stefano. Lauro owns his own olive farm, as does Stefano. Both are about my father's age, although they dont look it. Italians age REALLY well......

As we hung out and ate, Lauro asked us about the U.S. He wanted to know where all of our states are located within the U.S. He also asked Rich about his heredity. For those of you who dont know, Rich is a fourth Irish, half Italian, and a fourth something else, but he looks completely Irish. Lauro refused to believe that Rich was half Italian. In order to prove his point, he took out his pony-tail and draped it over Rich's head to show that he would look ridiculous with dark hair. Then later, Lauren draped her long blonde hair over his to show what he would look like if he was typical "american".
Even later on in the night, Lauro wrote a note for Rich on the paper tablecloth. The note was written for out Italian teacher as an excuse for Rich to skip class the next day so that he could work on Lauro's farm. He even signed it as a doctor, too bad our teacher didnt buy it....

We ate cingale (wild boar) with pasta, then cingale by itself, and then we ate the awesome porcupine. It was kinda tasty, but there wasnt a whole lot of meat on it. There was quite a bit of fat instead.....
